The MFC-L2700DW is a fast and very versatile monochrome laser multifunction with great resolution capacity. Adapted to current needs, it has multiple wireless connectivity options, among them. The Brother MFC-L2700DW has Wifi and Wifi Direct. Likewise, it also highlights its great speed and numerous functions, including fax or automatic duplex printing.

Brother MFC-L2700DW

The MFC-L2700DW is a printer that covers all the office automation and administrative needs of an office. Thanks to its great ease of use, and its affordable price. They also make it a very complete multifunction for the home. The Brother MFC-L2700DW laser printer is a monochrome multifunction printer (MFP). That offers speed and paper handling that is especially suited for a small office or somewhat intense everyday personal use. The Brother MFC-L2700DW is a model worth considering, for a price of fewer than 200 euros. It’s small enough to comfortably sit on a desk, and its paper tray offers more capacity than most printers of similar size and features, along with better paper handling, something you never have in a printer.

Smartphone Connection

Devices with support for mobile printing are becoming more and more common on the market. So it’s no coincidence that the MFC-L2700DW has similar capabilities to many of the printers we’ve recently reviewed. But it does not end here. This is the only function with which the Brother MFC-L2700DW printer can surpass many of its competitors, for its functionality and flexibility. Mobile support includes features like scanning in addition to printing. Brother’s free app will let you print from and scan to iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, and Windows smartphone or tablet devices. Unlike other printing apps, it still won’t let you send faxes from the mobile service.

If you connect the MFC-L2700DW to a wireless network. Either via Ethernet or Wi-fi, mobile printing support will let you print via the cloud. Assuming that the wireless network is connected to the internet. It will also let you connect to a Wi-fi wireless network and print through its network access point. If instead, you choose to connect the printer to a single computer. You can use a USB cable if there is no wireless network. You cannot print directly from the cloud. But you can use the Wi-fi Direct feature to connect to it using your Smartphone, Tablet, laptop, or computer, and thus print the documents you need. The feature that we miss most from the MFC-L2700DW – and that we’ve found in other of our reviewed products – is NFC support, which lets you establish a connection simply.

Brother MFC-L2700DW Basic Functions and Installation

The basic functions of a multifunction printer or MFP, and especially in the case of the Brother MFC-L2700DW, include printing, faxing from, and scanning to a computer. Either over a wireless network or via USB cable – and the ability to work as a copier or as a fax only. Its paper-handling capabilities when printing is suitable for most offices and home offices or small shared offices. With a paper tray for up to 250 pages, and a single-page manual paper feed function. An automatic duplex mechanism is included (for double-sided printing). If you need superior paper-handling capabilities. Then no upgrades are available.

Paper handling for scanning is also suitable for most personal offices or small shared offices. With a letter tray supplemented by a 35-page Automatic Paper Feeder (ADF) that can handle paper sizes up to A4. Setting up the printer over a wireless network is typical for monochrome laser printers and multifunction printers (MFPs). So for my tests, we established its connection using its Ethernet port and installed the software on a Windows Vista system. The Brother MFC-L2700DW is a solid black-and-white printer option, and it’s one of the best options for those who need a reliable and affordable machine for basic printing tasks. It offers several useful features, such as automatic duplex printing, wireless connectivity, and mobile device printing capabilities.

Speed and Quality of the Result

Brother claims that its MFC-L2700DW model reaches 27 pages per minute (ppm), which, in other words, is the speed you can expect when printing text documents and other files that don’t require much processing. In our prints, we hit a low of 9.1 ppm. That qualifies as acceptable – but not fast at all – considering the price. The Brother MFC-L2700DW is slower than most printers we’ve seen and significantly slower than some; with one of its sisters, the Brother HL-L2300D, we reached 25 pages per minute, although it lacked multifunction capabilities and did not print with a laser.

Still, the quality of the MFC-L2700DW is good enough for most business uses, but it doesn’t stand out. Their results would be classified as typical by average, mediocre, and some of our testers went. So far as to classify them as somewhat below average when it comes to monochrome laser MFPs. The text quality is appropriate for most semi-professional uses in a business. As long as you don’t need to use particularly small fonts. The graphics are good enough for any internal business need. But we wouldn’t recommend showing them to a client or potential buyer you’re trying to impress with your professionalism. The photo quality is good enough to print recognizable images from photos or from web pages. But nothing that asks for more than a regular resolution.
