Expression Home XP-3100 economical 3-In-1 printer decent performance at an affordable price. The Epson XP-3100 printer allows daily printing with a reduced cost per page. Epson expression home is ideal for those who want a printer to print images, photos, and documents, but also to scan and photocopy. The expression printer features a small screen and wifi connectivity. Very easy to use for individuals.
The Expression Home XP-3100 can print up to 10 pages per minute (ppm) in black and white but also 5 ppm in color. All with a resolution of 5,760 x 1,440 dpi. Printing is automatic double-sided and prints on photo paper take approximately 42 seconds. The scanner can scan photos, documents, and color images with a resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi. The copier can copy up to 7.7 pages per minute in black and white and 3.8 ppm in color.
Epson Expression XP-3100 High printing speed Features
Who wants to wait a long time for printouts? This is not necessary with the Epson Expression XP-3100 either. Because a black-and-white text page is in the output tray after five seconds. The XP-3100 needs about a minute for a photo in the standard format of 10×15 centimeters or a color graphics page. The print quality is quite impressive. The Epson scores with a high level of sharpness and many details. Only the color fidelity was not convincing in the test. For example, photos were put on paper with too much contrast. The built-in scanner delivers high quality. The scanner resolution is slightly higher than many competitors: 723 dpi (dots per inch). As a result, the XP-3100 is also suitable for somewhat smaller originals, such as older photos.
When it comes to equipment, all manufacturers save on their cheaper models. The Epson Expression XP-3100 is no exception: Only two cables fit – power and USB. There is also WiFi. Then the clearly audible printing noise (as with almost all printers) of 12.3 sone does not disturb. A special feature in this price range. The Epson has a small display for the menu settings. This makes it easier to operate the device and enables additional functions that devices without a display lack. Such as making reduced or enlarged copies (zoom factor from 25 to 400 percent).
Epson XP-3100 Printing Costs
The price of the Epson Expression XP-3100, currently around 90 euros, doesn’t hurt for long. But that can quickly look different when it comes to the ink costs. Printing texts in black and white is still cheap with the larger XL cartridges: Here one page costs 3.84 cents. The cartridge is enough for 780 pages. In color, however, it quickly becomes expensive: a color graphics page costs just under 24 cents (yielding 215 pages per color ink set). A photo in the standard format 10×15 centimeters, on the other hand, a whopping 1.27 euros (yield 40 photos per color ink set). Luckily, Epson offers an ink subscription (Epson ReadyPrint Flex, from 1.99 euros per month).
Here, the printouts are counted across the board – the ink consumption, regardless of whether it is a text page, graphic, or photo, is irrelevant. If you print a lot in color, you can get away with ReadyPrint Flex so much cheaper. However, those who only print texts in black and white do not save. The power consumption on standby is a bit high at 4.7 watts – that costs a good 11 euros over the year.

If your Epson XP-3100 printer is not recognizing one or more ink cartridges, try the following solutions:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Open the ink cartridge cover and check that the cartridges are seated properly.
- Clean the contacts on the ink cartridges and in the printer. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean any dust or debris from the contacts.
- Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges. Sometimes simply removing and reinserting the cartridges can fix the issue.
- Restart the printer. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on again.
- Update the printer firmware. Visit the Epson website and download the latest firmware for your printer model.
- Try using a different ink cartridge. If none of the above solutions work, it’s possible that the ink cartridge itself is faulty. Try using a new, genuine Epson ink cartridge.
