Expression Photo XP-750 combines the usual functions of a multifunction device A4 printer, scanner, and stand-alone copier in a compact body, easy enough to fit on a desk or even a shelf. The Expression XP-750 incorporates an automatic duplex module, a dual memory card reader, and a PictBridge USB port. The set is completed by an additional manual feeder for heavy paper (up to 400 g) and a CD-DVD loader for the customization of compatible wafers. Please note that it is not intended for intensive office use: its A4 paper tray only holds 100 sheets.

Expression Photo XP-750

Epson wants to seduce amateur photographers with this Epson expression photo printer equipped with six cartridges. Supposed to surpass the quality of lab prints. The Expression Photo XP-750 is more pleasant to use thanks to a large touch screen. Wireless printing functions, especially from a smartphone or tablet. Thanks to the 6 new color cartridges present. Practical, the printer is Wi-Fi, with automatic double-sided. Controllable in autonomous mode from its large touch screen of almost 9 cm diagonally. The Expression Photo XP-750 is a compact and versatile printer designed for photo printing. It is produced by Epson, a leading manufacturer of imaging equipment.

Expression Photo XP-750 Stunning Photo Quality

Aimed at photo enthusiasts, the XP-750 benefits from a high-resolution print engine using six independent Claria ink cartridges. The prints are of comparable or even superior quality. To that of online photo labs colors, contrasts, and precision. The compactness of the printer has a downside. On the one hand, the paper tray offers only a small capacity: 100 sheets, instead of 250 on many competitors. We often have to close the one above, which suddenly slows down the following outings. The stacking and motorization system is not optimal.

For office printing, the XP-750 can print a 20-page black and white text in 1 min and 48 s. A mixed document of 20 color pages in 2 min 45 s, or speeds of 11.1 and 7.3 ppm. The average speed is 13.9 ppm in black and 6.5 ppm in color. As always with Epson, the draft mode is very ink-efficient. But really very rough, pale, and poorly defined. However, thanks to their moderate prices of less than 10 euros per unit. In standard capacity and less than 16 euros in the XL version. The cost of using the device remains reasonable in office automation: 3.5 cents per page in black and 13.9 cents in color against 4 and 12 cents on average.

Good wireless printing functions

The XP-750 is well equipped for networks, with an Ethernet socket and a Wi-Fi n module in addition to the USB 2.0 socket. The device is also very easy to control from a smartphone or tablet, via the free Epson iPrint app. Very complete, it allows you to print photos and documents stored on the mobile. But also emails, web pages, and images stored online on sites like Evernote, Dropbox, or Google Docs. This app is even able to scan from the MFP to the mobile.

The Expression Photo XP-750 also benefits from a high-definition scanner operating in 48 bits. Which makes it possible to obtain more precise and more respectful color scans. But with very high precision and great respect for colors. Strangely, the copier mode is not terrible with the default settings. The XP-750 primarily claims the status of a photo printer. Epson is right about this positioning. In this mode, for an amateur but demanding public, it excels, even if the outings are a little scary at first. The colors take a few minutes to stabilize.

Expression Photo XP-750 Design

The printer is still compact, low (39 x 34 x 14 cm, it weighs 7.3 kg) and it offers a large touch screen on the front. Three large icons provide access to photocopies (color and monochrome). Direct printing from a memory card, and scanning, directly as an email attachment or to the cloud. Two criticisms against the touch screen:

  • Navigation in the options is difficult, we too often activate an option instead of simply scrolling through them;
  • The input keyboard is impractical, it lacks a mode to switch between numbers, upper and lower case. It works like the old telephones with physical keys by successive presses. Too bad for touch!

In terms of functions, there is otherwise a blank CD/DVD printing module and an integrated memory card reader. Monochrome and color speeds are similar and fast enough for everyday use, at around 12 pages per minute (ppm). The double-sided mode, as always, lowers the flow rate, here to 5 ppm. The photo mode is also in the good average, even if the choice of “normal” parameters allows the 10 x 15 cm to be released in just under 40 seconds. When Epson claims a surprising “10 seconds” in the characteristics of his product, which we only got in draft mode on standard paper.
