Brother DCP-195C A4 Colour Adjustment prints, scans, and photocopies in color for multifunction inkjet printers. The DCP-195C is a somewhat basic model, but its price/quality ratio seems particularly interesting. The DCP-195C is sold at a very reasonable price of 69 euros. It is also of the 3-in-1 type of printing, scanning, and photocopying. Which will have a network interface and will add an 8.4 cm color LCD screen.

Brother DCP-195C

In terms of performance, Brother announces a maximum print speed of 33 pages/minute in black and white and 27 pages/minute in color. In order not to waste ink, the printer has four separate cartridges accessible from the front. Finally, Brother delivers a full suite of software for Windows and Mac OS. that includes optical character recognition (OCR). The fast photo-editing program Face Filter Studio.

Brother DCP-195C Brief Review

Apart from a few details, the base used is common to the three machines. In fact, we found during our tests that the performance. As well as the quality of prints and scans is almost identical for the three devices (within one or two seconds). Printing a document consisting of 20 pages of black. The white text took us about 97 seconds on this DCP-195C, against 101 s for its elder. Ditto for our mixed document of 20 pages mixing text and color graphics 6 min 44 s with the DCP-195C, against 6 min 42 s for its elder.

On the scanning side, it is the same since the three models use the same scanner with a definition of 1,200 x 2,400 dpi. Thus performing the scanning of A4 documents in about 17 s in gray at 300 dpi and about 46 s in color at 600 dpi. Identical observation for the photocopier mode which uses the same scanner and the same 1,200 x 6,000 dpi print engine. An A4 black and white photocopy are obtained in 31 s, while an A4 color photocopy is produced in 41 seconds. Needless to say, we checked the functions of this photocopier mode. Multicopy, enlargement/reduction, quality, and mode.

Simple and Functional Colour Adjustment

In addition to its performance and the service provided, we liked the Brother DCP-195C for its ease of installation and use. Its driver installs easily and quickly, it is quite rich in terms of settings and, to top it off, very user-friendly. It is presented as a control center where you choose from different functions. Scanning, photo capture, copying, maintenance, or configuration. Each with several predefined or user-modifiable options. As a result, it is possible for us to customize the menus and sub-menus to best adapt them to the use of the device.

That said, not everything is perfect: the cartridge status indicator is singularly lacking in precision. It frequently happens to report a cartridge as empty when it is not (and vice versa). The same applies to cartridge change detection. Sometimes you have to do it manually several times to notify the printer of the presence of a new cartridge. It seems to us that the defect in the breastplate of this DCP-195C concerns its ink supply. Which runs out a little too quickly for our taste (automatic cleaning at regular intervals and limited cartridge capacity). We were only able to get 300 pages out of it in color or black.

Brother DCP-195C Design

The Brother DCP-195C MFP is a milky, short, handsome man that attracts glances. What is there to hide, and motes too. Here, however, the dust is not as terrible to him as to his black compatriots. The combination of a rectangular body, smoothed corners, and rounded lines make it pleasing to the eye. He is elegant and businesslike. The Brother DCP-195C is compact, so it will be easy to find a place for it. The length of the USB cable you use will determine which side the MFP should be placed on. The fact is that the connector for direct connection is hidden under the scanner module.

It has a clear control panel and is very easy to use. Equipped with a set of buttons and a monochrome display in a row that is easy to connect with other devices. At the bottom of the panel are slots for a USB flash drive and memory cards. Not very convenient if you have to add paper to the tray during printing, but for normal use, it will do.

Preparing for printing

The manufacturer has provided the Brother DCP-195C multifunction printer with drivers compatible with Windows, Mac, and even Linux. In addition, the DCP-195C supports PictBridge, so you can connect the camera to a printer directly.

As you remember, the paper feed and print trays are aligned, but when you see them, it’s hard to believe that they can fit 100 and 50 pages, respectively. They can. But there is a small caveat here: the paperweight, which the device is ready to handle, is in the range of 64-220 g/m2. And we even had some difficulties during testing, but more on that later. You can manage to print using just two tabs, which become either color or black and white, depending on the print settings. The print quality setting includes four modes for document printing (Fine, Normal, Fast Normal, and Fast) and three for photo printing (Fine, Photo, and Fine).
